Dr. Sobhy Masoud

Dr. Sobhy is a Professional Engineer and working as an Engineering consultant in Toronto. He is also an Adjunct Professor at Toronto Metropolitan University. He has a PhD degree from the University of Waterloo. He and his family have been in Canada for about 30 years, with about 20 years living in Churchill Meadows area in Mississauga. He memorized Quran in Egypt where he was raised. He has been a regular volunteer at MNN leading daily prayers and Taraweeh prayers.

Sabina Alam

Sabina Alam

Vice Chair

Sabina Alam is a dedicated educator and community leader with a Double Bachelor’s in Education and Humanities, as well as a Master’s degree in Education. She brings years of experience working with schools and school boards, where she has been instrumental in guiding students and parents through the Canadian school system. Also participated in policy making committees at board level.
Her passion lies in building bridges between schools, families, and communities to ensure student success and inclusion.
Engaged in community development and social work. Led and supported numerous initiatives aimed at empowering newcomer families, advocating for educational equity, and fostering youth engagement.
Organized various events with in the schools and community.
Long-standing commitment to service has earned ,several honors, including the Women of Inspiration Award (2016) from ICNA Sisters Canada and the Ontario Volunteer Service Award (2019) from the Ministry of Citizenship and Multiculturalism.
She is very well connected to MNN Masjid since its early years, contributing across various areas and helping shape its growth .

Jamal Ahmed

Jamal Ahmed is a founding member of Muslim Neighbour Nexus and has been actively involved since its inception. He played a pivotal role in acquiring the 5.75-acre property and establishing the MNN Masjid. A licensed Professional Engineer and ASQ-certified Six Sigma Black Belt and Quality Engineer, he has held leadership roles in several leading food manufacturing companies. Jamal remains deeply committed to Islamic community service and has been actively engaged with various charitable organizations and Islamic centres in Mississauga and Oakville.

Muhammad Makki

Muhammad Makki

Treasurer

Makki is a seasoned finance professional. A CPA by profession, he is also a certified SAP consultant with over 20 years of experience in leading finance transformation projects. He has been associated with MNN since 2013 and is also involved with other Islamic and community development projects.

Ali Raja



Ali Raja

Program Lead

Ali Raja has been actively supporting MNN since 2019, contributing to salah logistics, safety, program coordination, and the facilitation of networking events. He has also participated in key initiatives to enhance volunteer management systems. In addition, he serves on multiple school councils in the community, promoting parent involvement .
Ali is a senior IT professional with over 20 years of international experience in program and project management, IT operations, and service delivery. He has worked across the telecommunications, financial, and IT consulting sectors in Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Canada. He holds a Master’s degree in Computer Science and certifications in PMP and ITIL.

Faisal Minhas

Faisal Minhas is a certified QMS Lead Auditor by IRCA (UK) and a MDSAP certified Lead Auditor by the US FDA, and Health Canada. He has served as a Lead Auditor for several globally recognized certification bodies, including Lloyd’s Register USA, SGS, Intertek, and SIC Global. With over 25 years of professional experience, Faisal specializes in management system development and maintenance, quality management system (QMS) auditing, professional training, project management, team development, and effective communication.
Beyond his professional commitments, Faisal actively volunteers with various Masajids and Musallahs in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), contributing to the local community through service and leadership.

Akhtar Baqa

Akhtar Baqa is a seasoned Senior Engineer with over 26 years of dedicated service at Centurion Medical Corporation in Canada. Prior to immigrating, he held key engineering roles with Civil Aviation in Saudi Arabia and with Pakistan Television Corporation.
Mr. Baqa has been an active community volunteer since 2012, contributing significantly to organizations such as the Muslim Neighbour Nexus (MNN), Al Rehman Islamic Centre, EFFORT, Pakistani Social Circle in Mississauga. He is also passionate about sports and regularly participates in table tennis and badminton.

Ayub A. Hamid

Ayub Hamid is a retired professional accountant and Information system auditor who was designated as Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA), Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Certified Information System Auditor (CISA), and has served various business corporations in senior roles. He is one of the pioneers who wrote, spoke and encouraged smart integration of Muslims into the Canadian civil and political processes and democratic institutions. He is also a scholar of Islam who has written multiple books, treatises and articles on Islam; has translated the Noble Qur-aan into easy to understand modern English; and has written a comprehensive English Tafseer of the whole Qur-aan. From 1977 onwards, he has volunteered in the service of Islam and community by conducting Tafseer sessions, youth halaqahs, Islamic workshops, youth camps, marriage counselling and prison-inmate counselling in the volunteer capacity of Imam, Khateeb, marriage officer and chair of religious affairs.

Syed Attique Shafaat

Mr. Attique has over 30 years of R&D design experience in the transportation industry at companies like Bombardier, General Motors, Orion and PIA and holds a Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Toronto and an MBA from New York University. 

He supervised the first phase of construction of MNN Masjid and has been overseeing its maintenance since then. He was previously involved in the development and maintenance of Ar-Rahman Islamic Center and Al Falah Mosque. Professionally, Mr. Attique is an engineer at Honda for new models in Alliston 
 
Besides spending time with his family, he enjoys playing badminton, gardening, and socializing within the Muslim community.

Karamat Ullah

Karamat Ullah is BE Electrical from NED (Karachi) and was a Senior Member of IEEE Canada. He has more than 35 years’ experience in project management positions in the construction of pumping stations, power plants, transmission lines & Shopping Malls. He has served on boards of various professional associations and has actively participated in organizing various seminars & functions. As a retired professional, he is actively volunteering in serving the community in various capacities.

Khurram Rahman

Khurram Rehman, an MBA and ACSB graduate from the University of Toronto and McMaster University, has accumulated over 30 years of experience across the finance and information technology sectors. Known for his collaborative spirit, Mr. Rehman consistently enjoys organizing and working as part of a team. His commitment to community is long-standing, as he has actively volunteered with MNN since the very first phase of Masjid construction, contributing to various group activities. Currently, he applies his expertise as a manager at an insurance company, focusing on construction-related products.

Zaheer Khan

Zaheer Khan

Director

Zaheer Khan has been a dedicated volunteer with MNN since the groundbreaking of the masjid and has proudly served as a Board Director for the past three years. His commitment to the growth and well-being of the MNN community is unwavering, and he remains devoted to serving the masjid and its members, whether in an official role or as a community volunteer.
Professionally, Zaheer brings over 40 years of experience in the aviation industry, with expertise in both flying and conducting FAA-mandated human factors training (CRM) for pilots. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Karachi and a Master’s degree in Human Factors in Aviation from the University of Southern California.
